I know you have all seen the age issues discussed about IMVU.Now here's your chance to voice your opinion about it.If you are for or against IMVU setting an age limit.Would love to see what everyone thinks.

My view is to be honest NO I dont think there should be one.I have met many younger users who are way more mature than the older ones.Im talking about 13 year olds who I can actually sit down and hold a serious coversation with. Now if they were to set a maturity level you had to be at when you joined I bet we would see alot of the older people being booted due to lack of maturity.

In all honesty, I think IMVU should have an age limit. There are many young users here that are not fit to be on IMVU and are exposed to a lot of things that they shouldn't be participating in at their age. For example I was I was at a Chat Now conversing with a 14 year old guy and the things he were saying were very irrational. It's true that some young users on IMVU are mature but that's just the minority. The majority of some young users on IMVU are very immature and if you look at some of the topics they make at Chat Casts you would understand.

Actually I have looked at some of the chatcast topics. But have you also seen the topics of some of the older people.I mean come on some are downright nasty. Not even of age people would care to go into them.I do agree about alot of stuff being unsuitable for younger people. But IMVU is a chat client made for everyone. Not just for a set age limit.Thats why there is a restricted section but it only pertains to the catalog.Maybe if imvu set a section of chat area topics for adults only and you had to verify age before you could join by some way then it might help.

Eaven if I'm a youger user of imvu, I joined for fun. And I hate people that don't talk to me just because I'm 14 and think it's not cool. Most of my friends are over 18. And my point is: Wouldn't it be unfair for the teens that don't do stupid things and aren't influenced by anyone to do that tings to be excluded?
It's like asking your age in a chat for teens and if you're over 18, ur excluded. How would everybody feel then?

This was an objection that I guess people won't take it personally. (I just wanted to say my point of view).

I don't think there should be an age limit. I've spoken to a lot of older people that were extremely interesting, had no interest in cybering, just chatting.
Most older adults I've found, after they join the site and notice the general age is 15-18, they don't really stick around unless their friends join.

But you're going to find perverts of any age, whether they're 16 or 60.

I'm 25 and a lot of my favourite people are 13. Some people find that weird, but I don't. If anybody knows Gecha, she's 13 and her and I have joked around that we're married. But do I sexualize her in any way? Heck no.

I'm 14 and like Yokko in most IMVU chats I seem to be excluded because of the majority of people our ages acting like no brain perverts or not know a full stop from a semi colon.

I appreciate when I can sit down with someone a few years older and have a serious conversation instead of small talk then move on. I do think there should be an age limit but whatever way it'll be unfair to some of us.

As Shelly said age is nothing but a number.I have many friends who are below the age of 16 and to be honest I wouldn't trade em for anything I the world.Well ok almost anything.hehe picking seriously I have had some great conversations with people of all ages and when I do find out ages of some it shocks me when they say 13 or 14 and here we have been discussing serious issues. So no I don't go by age even in real life...

Ignore my rambling I just woke up.

13 plus ATLEAST. But I think you should be able to fix the chat cast so you get people close to your age. I was mature at 13 but I got into stuff that I shouldnt have at that age. Its not just preverts, its the quality of chat.

I agree with that. But thing is I'd get more annoying n00bs then ever, sucks being an age where almost everyone is immature.

This gives the phrase "Stop acting like kids" a new meaning.

You have to remember adults didnt grow up with this, they dont have the online social skills we have. A lot of them dont realize that you are mature and such. When I was 14 and people asked how old I was I would say "I will tell you later, dont worry about that now, we are just talking after all"

the way i see it. they can act immature all they want. it's the responsibility they don't get to hold. how people handle situations is a big thing.

an age limit is cool, but sometimes, though it will be established, certain people will still make some trickery around

I'm not sure what any age limit would do.
You can put in any age you want on here.
I've seen people who were 0 years old,
and people who were 100, and some with no age at all.

Yesterday, I had a -Chat Now- expereince about this.

His home page said he was 21. So I was surprised when, while talking, he said "I'm 15" ...

I asked him if he made a mistake filling out the info-
(by the way, how do you "accidently" get the year you were born wrong?)

He said no, it wasn't a mistake. He said "I'm 15, I was afraid they wouldn't let me on." ...

"They" in this case is IMVU,

So... if a 15 y/o can just say he's 21 because he's afraid he's too young to be on here.
What good is an age limit?

I believe if they are going to have an age limit on the site they should view product submission closer...[ I'm tired of buying things that get marked mature because someone who is overprotective of the "kids" decides it's too distasteful, even if it does cover guidelines] (With the age limit 13+ it IS a PG-13 site if you look at it that way.)
Age limit could be a good thing, I certainly don't think nine year olds really belong on the internet, no matter what the site. And yes, age is just a number but when you start going into the single and beginning of double digits you really have to look at what the age group in whole does.
I myself like to discuss politics, philosophy, future opportunities, etc etc... but most the people I find to discuss that with are 20+, as of the moment at least.
I always get the, wow I cannot believe you are only seventeen.
So yes, in doubt age doesn't matter but..
I guess it's more of what's not talked about but what's shown on here that makes me think there should be an age limit.

Well, Like icecold said, even if IMVU did have an age limit people will still find a way to go around it. Confused
