Recently, we've launched into yet another debate--yep, Abortion it is...

Abortion has three kinds: Spontaneous Abortion (performing of abortion naturally because the mother or the baby's life is in danger) ; Induced Thereapeutic Abortion (abortion done by the doctor because of ehalth reasons too); and lastly Elective Abortion (performing abortion because of any other reason)....

So... I'll let abortion only if it is an Spontaneous or Induced Thereapeutic one so that people can save either the mother or the baby, but if it is for Elelctive---clearly I will disagree, even if the mother had gone through a terrible experience or because of financial problems, that's not a reason to kill the baby...

i'm for abortion and it's not just becuase of rape i mean yes some woman have disgusting boyfriends that just get up and leave but, i'm from america and it's nice to know that you have the freedom to choose what you want and not just have someone make the decision for you. okay if some slut just is stupid and has sex without protection then, yeah, they deserve the conciquence but also a lot of those kinds of girls could never take care of a baby because...what kid deserves an irrisponsible mom believe me i know and it stinks big time...also, yes there's adoption but, did you ever think of a woman's feelings many girls might actually be afraid to have a baby, it's a scary thing. idk lol just my opinion

My point of view is based on the degree of development. A few seconds after conception, what you have is a fertilized egg; a few seconds before normal birth, what you have is a child.

My general rule of thumb for ethics is this:

The degree to which something should be the object of ethical consideration is directly proportional to its ability to experience suffering.

Therefore, in my mind, I see no objection to abortion during the very early stages of pregnancy, when there is no "person" inside the woman. There are very strong objections to abortion during the very late stages of pregnancy, and it should only be performed in extreme circumstances (to save the woman's life, if the child has no brain function at all, and so on.)

The middle stages of pregnancy are more problematic. As a general rule, one should do everything one can to perform the abortion as early as possible.

Of course, responsible sexual behavior is also extremely important.

My ethics are live and let live . Who am i to judge anothers reasons for abortion or childbirth. Everybody knows their own circumstances and must ultimately take responsibiity infront of the almighty who will judge far better that I ever could or indeed should.
These people will ultimately have to live with those very hard decisions for the rest of their lives.

Actually, if I remember right, the fetus would start developing a heart and other vital organs within 4-6 I think, though I'm not 100% sure. Assuming a woman gets pregnant and has to wait 3-4 weeks to realize she's late, then visits the doctor 3-7 days later to confirm and get the abortion, the baby could already have a heart could it not? The "early stages" of pregnancy sound like everything within the first month when you consider the who developing heart situation.

Here we go:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/prenatal-care/PR00112
Quote :
Week 4: The embryonic period begins
The fourth week marks the beginning of the embryonic period, when the baby's brain, spinal cord, heart and other organs begin to form.
Quote :
Week 5: Baby's heart begins to beat
This week, your baby's heart and circulatory system are taking shape. Your baby's blood vessels will complete a circuit, and his or her heart will begin to beat. Although you won't be able to hear it yet, the motion of your baby's beating heart may be detected with an ultrasound exam.

With these changes, circulation begins — making the circulatory system the first functioning organ system.
Quote :
Week 6: The neural tube closes
The neural tube along your baby's back is now closed, and your baby's heart is beating with a regular rhythm.
Quote :
Week 7: The umbilical cord appears
The cavities and passages needed to circulate spinal fluid in your baby's brain have formed, but your baby's skull is still transparent.
Quote :
Week 8: Baby's fingers and toes form
As your baby's heart becomes more fully developed, it will pump at 150 beats a minute — about twice the usual adult rate.
